Lorenzo Chavez Pastel Workshop

Monday-Friday, Nov. 1-5,
9am. – 4pm.

This workshop is open to artists of all levels. Practice traditional landscape painting methods en plein air, observing and studying nature firsthand at inspiring locations on Oahu. Lorenzo Chavez is a distinguished workshop instructor of pastel landscapes, providing demos and lots of personal attention in his workshops.

Lorenzo Chavez is one of the leading pastel artists in the nation today. His work has been featured in many magazines such as Southwest Art, Artists of the West, The Artist's Magazine and Pastel Journal, and books such as Pure Color: The Best of Pastel (North Light Books, 2006), Plein Air New Mexico (Richeson, 2006), and Landscapes of Colorado (Fresco Fine Art Publications, 2007). His work is also represented in galleries in across the United States and is included in many private and corporate collections, both nationally and internationally.

If you intend to take this workshop, you must sign up before Sept. 1. Half the registration fee is due by July 1, with the remainder by Sept. 1. You will receive a materials list, along with further details when you register. Plein Air Group Painting
For experience of painting on location, there is no better way than to have it with a group of similar like-minded artists.

Figure Drawing Opportunities

Figure drawing/painting sessions at UH Manoa art building
Every Sunday: 9:30 am. - 12:30 pm. and 1 pm. - 4 pm.

Small model fee. No instructor.
The room (Room 323) is on the second floor in the mauka/ewa corner of the art building.

Figure drawing/painting sessions at Chaminade University

Tuesday evenings: 7:30 - 9 pm.
Small model fee. No instructor.

To get to the art room, drive into Chaminade’s entrance and follow the road left, circling around behind to the far right upper corner of the campus. Park and the building is just as the road turns right.

Figure Drawing at Windward

Every Friday morning, 9:30am.-12noon.
Windward Community College in Kaneohe
Fee: $5 per session or $40 for ten sessions.

A pay as you go figure drawing opportunity can be found at Windward Community College, just of Kahekili Hwy. in Kaneohe (mauka of Kaneohe District Park. The drawing classroom is on the second floor of the art building, Hale Palanakila (see map below). There is no instruction — just a series of quick poses and then four roughly 25-minute poses.
