WORKSHOP SCHEDULE:
(open to change as the situation requires)
MONDAY
9 a.m.: Classroom - Orientation, slide presentation.
Lunch
Afternoon: Outdoor Location - A demonstration on the basics of working
“en plein air,” and the afternoon working on location with
individual help at the easel.
TUESDAY
9 a.m.: Outside Location - Indepth demonstration on location.
Lunch
Afternoon: Painting on location with individual help at the easel. Group
critique of day’s work.
WEDNESDAY
9 a.m.: Classroom - Demonstration on under-painting techniques.
Lunch
Afternoon: Working in the classroom with individual help at the easel.
THURSDAY
9 a.m.: Outdoor Location - Painting on location with individual help at
the easel.
Lunch
Afternoon: Demonstration on location. - Painting on location with individual
help at the easel.
FRIDAY
9 a.m.: Classroom - Indepth demonstration, painting from the field study.
Critique of the week’s work.
Bring a portfolio or images of your work for the critique on the last
day. Originals are welcome.
Drawing, value relationships, color harmony and edges will all be covered.
Techniques of painting in pastel and using mixed media for under-painting
will be addressed with a lot of time spent individually at each students
easel. Emphasis on learning to see accurately while painting on location
will be covered as well as approaching the landscape as a field sketch,
finished painting and how to translate this into the studio.
